We had so much fun on our field trip last week! First, we went fishing. Then, we toured the farm and had a lesson on farm animals-- what they do and why they are useful. We had a picnic lunch and played on the playground. Back at school, we turned on the music and danced the "Barnyard Boogie"!

Snow Day... Again!
When the weather outside is frightful... there are fun new links to the Students page of our class blog!
If your child asks for "screen time" today, these offer a great mix of wholesome fun and learning at the same time. There are math videos to review 2-D and 3-D shapes. I'll be testing the children on recognizing these next week. You'll also find good addition and subtraction resources there. The Let's Find Out/Weekly Reader magazine web site has lots of science and social studies topics to "research". For reading practice, remember your child has a personalized collection of books at their reading level at Raz-Kids. And, I've added an easy recipe for Jello Play Dough for fun together in the kitchen-- if you make some, point out that this is an example of the same sort of "how-to" writing your child writes during this unit of Writer's Workshop.
However you spend it, have a fun day of making family memories!

January Moments
Reading partners teaching and learning together... writers studying non-fiction books and starting to write their own... spellers, writers, and readers busy at word work... mathematicians sorting and counting for the 100th day of kindergarten... all of this, and much more. January was another month of joyful learning!
